Eternal July :: Marijn Cinjee & Julia Sinclair :: House on the Strand

Grand Junction, St. Mary Magdalene Nave, W2 5TF , [Venue Details]

A collaboration between Julia Sinclair, an English soprano soloist, and Marijn Cinjee, a Dutch electronic musician, began with a single idea: to reimagine the music of Hildegard of Bingen, the 12th-century German abbess, mystic and composer, through the lens of modern electronic soundscapes

@7.00pm

‘Wind Takes Flight’ is an album that creates a conversation across time – beginning with Hildegard’s chants and evolving into a love letter to her music, merging her sacred compositions with contemporary sound design while remaining true to the spirituality of her music. As the artists explain, the title is drawn from one of Hildegard’s sacred poems featured on the album, reflecting her love of birds and the natural world.

The collaboration between Marijn Cinjee and Julia Sinclair began in April 2023, when the duo debuted an improvisation at Stone Nest in London, in an immersive listening experience using more than 40 loudspeakers driven by the 4DSOUND spatial sound system. The premiere of the future album took place at Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in December 2024. The 4th July 2025 marks the official album release day.
