Black Honey

Village Underground, EC2A 3PQ , [Venue Details]

Black Honey return with Soak, their most raw and emotionally resonant album yet. Led by the ever-electric Izzy B. Phillips, the Brighton quartet (Chris Ostler, Tommy Taylor, Alex Woodward) take a bold leap into vulnerability and sonic ambition.

@7.30pm

Woozily dramatic and crammed with the kind of killer melodies we’ve come to expect from a Black Honey record, Soak is unapologetically led from the gut, and even stronger for its emotional vulnerabilities. Having channelled Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson on previous albums, Phillips cites Stanley Kubrick as a key inspiration for the visual universe of Soak, specifically the retro-futurism of A Clockwork Orange, The Shining and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Four albums in, Black Honey’s ambition and unstudied authenticity remain as bold and captivating as ever.
