606 Club, SW10 0QD , [Venue Details]Clark Tracey is an excellent, highly experienced, award-winning drummer, bandleader, composer and arranger. Originally featured with the band of his late, great, father Stan, Clark has gone on to establish himself in his own right as one of the country’s leading modern jazz drummers.
He has recorded over 90 albums (9 as a leader) and performed in over 50 countries. Awarded the "Best Drums" title five times in the British Jazz Awards and Ronnie Scott's Award for “Best Drums” in 2007, Clark received the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2019 Birthday Honours for services to music and the promotion of jazz. The show this evening will be a performance of Stan Tracey's now iconic 1965 recording, 'Under Milk Wood' inspired by the Dylan Thomas play, with an All-Star band: saxophonist Art Themen, an original member of Stan's various groups, the supremely talented pianist Gareth Williams and bassist Andrew Cleyndert, who also worked in Stan's latter day ensembles.
