All London's live music

Alt / Indie, Electronic, Rap

futuretense: Big Softy + Princess Xixi

Southbank Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer, SE1 8XX , [Venue Details]

Catch danceable, off-kilter music from a DJ and producer duo, and a ‘dollstep’ artist on the rise in this edition of our free gig series.

Wednesday,
5 Nov 2025
@6.00pm

Absolutely massive, not particularly soft: Big Softy, the brainchild of Hijac and s.g.cackle, delivers a digital, dirty and delicious brand of electro to make your mouth water. Serrated basses and playful synth lines underpin vocals that rubber-band between intimacy and screamed catharsis.

While early PC Music gigs were warping Hijac’s brain chemistry, s.g.cackle was cutting his teeth in hardcore bands. The two were brought together by chance as participants in a SoundCloud collaborative album and their live shows fuse their disparate influences.

Artist, writer, cultural critic and DJ Princess Xixi is the London queer scene’s best-kept secret. With a sound as transgressive as it is rooted in cultural and historical literacy, her artistry is a melting pot of different genres and influences as diverse as the city that raised her.

Her boundary-breaking sound – which she has labeled ‘dollstep’ – mixes elements of UK bass, drill, footwork, emo, grime, alt pop, alt rock and more. She matches her sonic freak with a ferocious pen game and undeniable skills as a vocalist, equally at home with vicious grime flows or emotive singing.
