Carrier presents Rhythm Immortal (live AV) w/ Riyo Nemeth

Institute of Contemporary Arts, SW1Y 5AH , [Venue Details]

"Carrier’s debut album features eight elegantly rude arrangements that dance in negative space between Photek’s frictional syncopations, Rhythm & Sound’s dubwise minimalism and Torsten Pröfrock’s fractured dynamics... Unmissable stuff." Boomkat

Guy Brewer has always existed in the remote areas of electronic music. He began experimenting with sound as a teenager, using a basic setup for his initial forays into drum & bass. In the early 2000s, he co-founded Commix, a duo that became central to the evolution of the genre, and becoming fixtures of the post tech-step new wave, releasing on seminal labels such as Metalheadz, Exit or 31 Records. The pair’s work gained universal acclaim, leading to a series of releases that would go on to attain classic status.

Ever in search of new seams to mine, Brewer was drawn to the pull of techno’s emerging underground in the late 2000’s. Stepping away from drum & bass, he launched the Shifted project and founded the now-defunct Avian label in 2011. Over the next decade he blazed a trail of dubbed-out minimalism, rhythmic noise, and stark drone experiments, each exploring the tension between structure and dissolution.

Born in Tokyo, Riyo Nemeth completed a BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. She lives and works in Tokyo, Japan. Using moving images and photography as her medium and often subject matter, she explores different perspectives through using the two mediums simultaneously.
