All London's live music

Expect live performances, candid stories and a closer look at the woman behind one of the UK’s most distinctive soul and R&B voices.

Imaani first came to widespread attention in the 1990s through her work with Ronnie Scott’s favourites Incognito, becoming a sought-after vocalist on the UK soul and acid-jazz scene before stepping forward as a solo artist with hits including You Will Never Know. In 1998, she represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing second and introducing her voice to millions of viewers across Europe.

Since then, Imaani has continued to build a career across soul, jazz and R&B, performing and collaborating with artists including Chaka Khan, Nile Rodgers, Maceo Parker and Aswad. Her recent sold-out shows Upstairs at Ronnie's have demonstrated just how powerful she remains as a live performer.

For Songs & Stories, Shaw will explore the stories behind the songs, the stages and the people Imaani has encountered along the way. Shaw has performed with and interviewed artists ranging from Van Morrison to George Benson, bringing his own experience as a musician and broadcaster to the conversation.
