Paperface: The Man Who Couldn’t Sing - Album Launch
Crazy Coqs Cabaret, W1F 7ED , [Venue Details]An evening of beautiful and darkly funny songs, tinged with irony and rich in observation. Singer-songwriter and BBC6 Music favourite, Paperface, along with band members Aymeric Ardimani, Medi Parisot, and Daniel Marsala, perform a special show to launch his new album.
Paperface, is known for lyrics that amuse and inspire in equal measure: a career spent writing songs and composing scores for film and television have informed his wide ranging pallet, but it is the classic approach to the storytelling of the 60’s and 70’s that perhaps best underscores his thoughts.
He is a romantic trapped in a swirl of adulthood, and his words cut through like the beam of light that used to emanate from the converted lighthouse where he now records – weather permitting, of course…
“Beguiling, clever, sad, and really funny at the same time… I love this!” – Lauren Laverne, BBC6 Music
“I’ve been an Idiot for not playing that sooner: brilliant stuff by Paperface” – John Kennedy, Radio X
“Paperface provides a gorgeously rich slice of crystalline pop that evokes classic records by the Walker Brothers, Love, and Burt Bacharach… exquisite stuff” – Richard Smirke, The Big Issue
“On my 6Music Recommends show, Paperface got a big response from listeners… absolutely beautiful” – Stuart Maconie, BBC6 Music
