Legends of Irish Music & Song – One Final Performance

After decades of unforgettable performances, The Fureys take to our stage for the final time as part of their Farewell Tour.

Saturday,
3 May 2025
@7.30pm

Renowned for their timeless hits, including; I Will Love You, When You Were Sweet 16, The Green Fields of France, The Old Man, Red Rose Café, From Clare to Here, Her Father Didn’t Like Me Anyway, Leaving Nancy, Steal Away and many more.

The Fureys have been at the heart of Irish folk music for over four decades, bringing their heartfelt ballads and stirring melodies to audiences worldwide. Their success in the UK charts helped introduce Irish folk music to a new generation, with their debut on Top of the Pops in 1981 marking a milestone in their legendary career.

The oldest of the brothers, Eddie Furey, left home in 1966, immersing himself in Scotland’s great folk revival, where he shared accommodation with then-unknown musicians Billy Connolly and Gerry Rafferty. In 1972, Rafferty wrote Her Father Didn’t Like Me Anyway for Eddie - a song later chosen as BBC Radio 1 presenter John Peel’s Single of the Year.

Musicians across generations have credited The Fureys as an inspiration, including Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics, who learned his first guitar chords from Eddie Furey.
