Copland’s Clarinet Concerto draws on the virtuoso skills of jazz legend Benny Goodman, while bandleader Artie Shaw wrote his Clarinet Concerto for his own considerable skills as a player.
Elsa Barraine’s tautly lyrical Symphony No. 2 opens the programme.
