Diarra Walcott-Ivanhoe is a pianist and composer from North London. His early musical experiences fostered an appreciation for an array of different genres including Jazz, Soul, R&B and Calypso, and has led him to pursue an active career performing across a wide array of music.
His quintet performs his own compositions which draw inspiration from many of his personal experiences, exploring themes of loss, memory and belonging. His music is heavily inspired by artists within the Black American jazz tradition such as Wayne Shorter, Ambrose Akinmusire and Robert Glasper to name a few, and he aspires to merge these influences with the sounds from his upbringing to make something uniquely his own.
