SPS (Punk - Czech) Special London Show 1/2
Cart & Horses, E15 1PF , [Venue Details]After the sold-out concert of the Czech band Znouzectnost, another star of the Czechoslovak punk scene will come to the London club Cart and Horses for 2 very special shows on HALLOWEEN weekend!
The Band S.P.S., which is short for „Snížená pracovní schopnost“ (in English „Reduced work capacity“) was formed in 1988, so it is approaching its their 40th birthday.
During their long existence, they gave concerts in several European countries, incl. United Kingdom, maintaining a constant favor with their audience from their inroads in the 1990s to the present day.
In the 1990s, shortly after the Velvet Revolution, clashes began to occur in Czechoslovakia between Nazis and punks, the S.P.S. joins the side of the punks and singer Zdenek Růžička is
soon attacked on the night tram on his way home.
At this critical moment, the English BBC TV crew arrives and films an hour-long documentary about young punks and their counterpart.
This musical film, where S.P.S. are the main group that musically accompanies the whole show, has become a cult TV show in England and is a huge event for many punks every year.
S.P.S's Lyrics are based on local Czech problems and respond to the current situation, therefore some older texts can be characterized as outdated, the texts are usually politically engaged.
