Suzanne Rhatigan & Michael J Sheehy
Green Note Ltd, Green Note, NW1 7AN , [Venue Details]It’s coming up to thirty years since Rhatigan and Dream City Film Club appeared on either side of a split 7″ single on the legendary Org Records.
Following the dissolution of those two outfits, their respective chief songwriters and singers, SUZANNE RHATIGAN and MICHAEL J SHEEHY, would go on to share stages and collaborate on various projects over the years.
Suzanne’s songs delve into the politics, pleasures and terrors of domestic life. They are as beautiful as they are funny, as tender as they are brutally honest and her voice is a thing of wonder.
Sheehy’s songs are populated by the damaged, the broken and the lost. He sings unflinchingly about the nightmare peeking through the threadbare dream with a tenderness that belies the subject matter.
Their show at the Green Note will be their first together in many a year and it also marks the release of their latest joint effort, ‘Two Married Beggars’, as part of Bring Your Own Hammer, an ongoing collaborative project between Irish musicians and historians.
