RCM Head of Conducting Toby Purser and postgraduate conductors direct a concert of contemporary chamber works themed around the night sky.
The concert features Missy Mazzoli’s layered and effervescent Ecstatic Science, and a world premiere from RCM Large Ensemble Composition Competition winner, Nok Him Chan. Also on the bill is Martinů’s bubbling Nonet no 2, one of the last works the composer wrote, as well as Lutosławski’s jovial Dance Preludes, written after the Second World War and based around Polish folk-dance rhythms.
