St Martin-in-the-Fields, WC2N 4JJ , [Venue Details]With Gospel Evensong Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir will bring contemporary gospel music to Anglican Evensong at St Martin-in-the-Fields,
using special gospel settings for the psalms, the beautiful canticles of Mary and Simeon, the Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis, as well as the traditional prayers and responses. There will be other seasonal music besides, some of it congregational, all accompanied by a three-piece band.
The essence of gospel music is prayer in the Spirit through song. The essence of the cycle of Daily Prayer, of which Evensong is the climax, is the same. “He who sings, prays twice”, said St Augustine of Hippo.
Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir is a London-based gospel choir committed to creating and performing contemporary gospel of the highest standard as widely as possible, to spread a message of faith, hope, and love.
