Dan McConkey - Single Release

Morocco Bound, SE1 3HB , [Venue Details]

Releasing 25th July 2025, ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN is the 3rd single from saxophonist DAN MCCONKEY and the first release from his upcoming debut album.

Friday,
25 Jul 2025
@7.00pm

Full of energy and life, ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN is a contemporary jazz setting of a traditional Irish Slip Jig. The slippery, uneven phrases and heavy modal harmony make fertile ground for improvisation and the quartet wind their way inventively through the solo form. The track fits neatly with British Jazz- Folk contemporaries such as Norman Wilmore and Fergus McCreadie, as well as showing a broader influence from master musicians such as Dewey Redman and Joe Lovano. The single release will be marked by a show at Morocco Bound in London.

ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN features Joshua Walker-Martin on drums, Charlie Heywood on guitar and Sam Ingvorsen on bass. It was recorded at Pett studios and produced by Harry Osborne. The cover art was photographed by Inigo Blake
