Seasoned duo partners Anthony Marwood and Aleksandar Madžar open with one of the 20th Century’s most compelling chamber works, Shostakovich’s Violin Sonata, written in 1968 as a 60th birthday present for the great Soviet violinist David Oistrakh. They are joined in Tchaikovsky’s elegiac Piano Trio in A minor by Coleman Itzkoff, praised by Alex Ross in The New Yorker for his ‘flawless technique and keen musicality’.
