Wigmore Hall’s commemoration of the 400th anniversary of John Dowland’s death closes with his wonderful A Pilgrimes Solace of 1612, an utterly enchanting late collection of secular and devotional partsongs, solo songs and songs for solo voices and vocal ensemble. Its many delights include ‘Tell me true Love, where shall I seek thy being’, ‘Lasso vita mia mi fa morire’ and ‘Thou mighty God’.
