Formed in 2018 by percussionist and soul DJ Andy Davies, Diggin’ For Diamonds was created from a love of uncovering forgotten gems, rare ’70s soul, funk, and disco records that never quite got the spotlight they deserved.
The band breathe new life into these hidden classics, alongside delivering powerful original material inspired by the golden era of soul.
Influenced by legendary artists including Leroy Hutson, The Salsoul Orchestra, Alice Clark, Loleatta Holloway, Gwen McCrae, and a wealth of independent US soul and funk artists whose music was originally released on small local labels, Diggin’ For Diamonds champion the sound of the underground.
Many of the songs in their set had never even seen an official release until recent years, making each performance a true discovery session for soul lovers.
