Entropies: The Harvest EP Launch
Servant Jazz Quarters, N16 8JN , [Venue Details]Join us for an evening of live music celebrating The Harvest, the debut EP from neo-classical project Entropies featuring vocals, piano, strings, synth and percussion.
The night will open with a special performance by acclaimed Polish-Jamaican cellist, composer, and conductor Zara Hudson-Kozdoj who will perform music from her debut album she completed at Studio Richter-Mahr residency in 2024.
Inspired by Sheida Kiran’s BBC documentary Harvesting Turkey’s Tea (2022), the performance draws audiences into the hills of Turkey’s Black Sea coast where, for centuries, women have picked tea on steep slopes. Much of what they earned has traditionally been handed to their husbands, and while older women hope to preserve this way of life, a younger generation is turning away, leaving the industry’s future uncertain.
Entropies will present a musical project documenting human stories through an intimate evening of music. Blending songs composed for lead-vocalist Sheida’s films with new writing, they weave ambient pop, neo-classical textures and traditional folk influences into a filmic score.
