The Artists
Founded in September 2020, The Schola Cantorum are the girl choristers of King’s College School, who regularly sing services and concerts in Cambridge and further afield. Recent venues include St Clement’s Church in Cambridge, as well as the chapels of King’s College, Emmanuel College, Corpus Christi College, Magdalene College, and Queens’ College.
They have also sung in Winchester Cathedral, Winchester College, Chelmsford Cathedral, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Ipswich Minster, St George’s Church Hanover Square, and The Church of the Holy Sepulchre (the National Musicians' Church) in London. Later this term they will join with the City of London Choir and the Hanover Band to perform Bach’s St Matthew Passion at Cadogan Hall.
Members of the Schola Cantorum also have the opportunity to participate in the School’s specialist music training programme, which includes small group tuition of music theory and composition, and (for instrumental players) ensemble and orchestra rehearsals. In return for their commitment to the choir and in recognition of their work, the children each receive a bursary towards the cost of their individual weekly music lessons.
