Slow Mass

The Victoria, E8 3AS , [Venue Details]

Since forming in 2015, Chicago’s Slow Mass have been committed to pushing their artistic vision forward at all costs.

As line-ups go, it’s hard to imagine a more transcendent union. So you just go right ahead there and tap the buy now button, you know it’s the right thing to do…

Blurring the lines between subgenres, they have evolved over ten years from a core line-up to a fluid cast of collaborators from across the US, building a body of work that feels distinctly their own.

This is never more evident on their most recent record, Low on Foot, which sees them expand their sound in every direction; the pop hooks are catchier, the heavy pieces more earth-shaking, and the quiet moments more intensely contemplative.

The current incarnation consists of Evan Bernard, Dave Collis, Sean Hallock, Emma McCall, Josh Parks, Jos Sparks, and Mercedes Webb.

Outlander have been haunting stages around the UK and beyond for the best part of a decade, bringing their gloomy, caustic brand of shoegaze to support tours with genre heavyweights Bossk and Grivo and festivals including Dunk! and Arctangent.

Their most recent album, Acts of Harm, follows their 2021 EP ‘Sundowning/Unconditional’ and finds the band at their most introspective, sonically exploring the vast grey area between the languid slowcore of Duster and Codeine, the dream-like shoegaze of Swervedriver and Catherine Wheel, and the angular, glacial bombardment of Kowloon Walled City and True Widow.
