This event interweaves spoken excerpts from Bernhard Malkmus’ recent publication, Himmelsstriche (translated as ‘sky lines’ or ‘directions in the sky’), with music that reflects on the text. Malkmus’ memoir investigates the ecology of the Northumbrian coast, particularly during the 2021/22 avian flu epidemic.
With Bernhard Malkmus, Professor of German Literature and Environmental Humanities at the University of Oxford, and Marielle Sutherland, translator at the German Historical Institute London.
