From singing standards as a child to performing on Broadway, she has forged a career on her own terms.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, she appeared in productions including The Addams Family alongside Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth, before establishing herself as a compelling recording artist and live performer.
Along the way Morgan James has drawn praise from some of the industry’s greats, including mentorship from Motown founder Berry Gordy, and acclaim for projects ranging from her tribute to Nina Simone to releases exploring the music of The Beatles and Joni Mitchell. Known for ambitious concept albums and outstanding vocal performances, James brings a soulful, personal touch to every song she sings.
Her latest project, Soul Remains the Same, sees James turn to the rock anthems she grew up with, reshaping songs by AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne into soul songs complete with horns, Hammond organ and her unmistakable voice.
