The Cantus Ensemble - Visions Of Flying Machines

St Gabriel's Church, Pimlico, SW1V 4QF , [Venue Details]

An evening of works that explore humanity’s enduring fascination with the sky above and the sea below

Saturday,
13 Jun 2026
@7.00pm

From the depths of the sea to the limitless skies, Visions of Flying Machines explores humanity’s fascination with flight, water, and the mysteries between them - from the haunting darkness of Judith Bingham's The drowned lovers to the transcendent genius of Leonardo da Vinci as portrayed in Eric Whitacre's seminal Leonardo dreams of his flying machine. The programme concludes with Tarik O’Regan's epic The Ecstasies above - in which the choir, divided into three distinct forces, sings of the angel Israfel in what the composer describes as, "an homage of ecumenicity to an all-encompassing angel of music".
