The music of headliners Imperio Bamba brings together a bold fusion of hypnotic Afro-Latin rhythms such as cumbia, salsa and reggaeton; psychedelic synths and guitars; and commanding bilingual vocals that re-imagine Peru’s chicha through a contemporary, global lens. They call this rhythm Rebel Chicha, a Latin American psychedelic ritual, resonating with fans of Bomba Estéreo, Los Mirlos, and mainstream artists who reclaim and perform a shared Latinx culture on a global stage. Now expanded into a six-piece band, all first-generation migrant musicians from South America, their storytelling and Spanglish delivery treat language as a rhythmic force, creating connections across cultures. Their debut EP Rebel Chicha reimagining of ‘My Favourite Things’ has received praise in the both UK and Latin America.
