Map Studio Cafe, NW5 3DU , [Venue Details]Gretel is a 22 year old singer from London. Having been raised on a diet of Nick Cave she picked up a guitar & started writing her own gothic stories and songs at age 11.
As she grew as a musician, started going to gigs & fell in love with Tim Buckley, Nirvana and then Wolf Alice, her songwriting began to morph into what it is today; a mix of hi-fi grunge, goth-pop and alt/indie ballads.
Gretel’s first EPs on VLF Records – ‘Slugeye’ and ‘Head Of The Love Club’ – went off like rockets gaining A Lists on 6Music & B Lists at Radio 1 as well as two Maida Vale sessions and multiple magazine covers. Having played 60 shows in her first two years she also built an enviable live fanbase selling out Village Underground in London, Mercury Lounge in NY and Moroccan lounge in LA in 2023 alone.
As she prepares to release her debut album via her own imprint Breadcrumb Records the future looks very bright for Gretel.
