Our American links include:
-Virginia and New England with Captain John Smith, and Rhode Island with Roger Williams
-Lord Dartmouth, George Legge, the Royal Fusiliers founding Colonel, whose mother, Elizabeth Washington, was related to George Washington, the first President of the United States.
-Major John André, a British officer captured and executed as a spy during the Revolutionary War
-James Norman Hall, an American author best known for Mutiny on the Bounty, who was a Royal Fusiliers in World War I
