BBC Proms: Berlioz’s ‘The Damnation of Faust’

Royal Albert Hall, SW7 2AP , [Venue Details]

Berlioz’s ‘Dramatic Legend’ The Damnation of Faust is an operatic thrill-ride, a tour de force for orchestra, chorus and soloists that throws all of music’s capacity at one simple question: what is the price of the human soul?

Sunday,
30 Aug 2026
@7.00pm

A story of heaven and hell, of demons and angels is best staged in sound and imagination – too cinematic for the confines of the stage.

Jakob Lehmann and the period musicians of Les Siècles bring it to life in a concert performance with an international cast of soloists, including American tenor John Osborn in the title role, Gerald Finley, and Véronique Gens.

Programme

John Osborn - Faust
Véronique Gens - Marguerite
Gerald Finley - Méphistophélès
