At the forefront of contemporary instrumental music, David Moore defies genre. When discussing his atmospheric music, he doesn’t describe its sound so much as the spirit in which it arises, using terms “freedom,” “grace,” and “openness” across the years.
As leader of ambient ensemble Bing and Ruth, Moore’s live compositions helped reshape America’s musical landscape from the early 2000s onward. More recently, he has focused more on solo works and various collaborative projects to expand his sound. His new solo album Graze the Bell revisits the past while pushing into new territory.
