Belfast-based jazz pianist and bandleader Zak Irvine is a rising force in the contemporary jazz scene, blending the rigor of a classical foundation with a sophisticated, modern improvisational edge. Originally from Bangor, Zak has quickly transitioned from a young prodigy to a refined stylist known for his technical precision and evocative emotional depth.
Zak’s momentum is undeniable, having recently commanded the stage at the Brilliant Corners Jazz Festival and delivered a string of sold-out performances at premier venues including The Courthouse and Scott’s Jazz Bar. His distinctive voice as both a performer and composer has already caught the ear of the industry's elite; his music was recently featured on BBC Radio 2, earning high praise from Jamie Cullum, who remarked:"Love the playing on this and I love the composition."
Bringing his project ‘Before Dusk and Dawn’ to the iconic PizzaExpress Live Chelsea, Zak explores the space between shadow and light through complex harmonies and fluid storytelling.
