Today's Mayfair Organ Concert is given by Jeremiah Stephenson (St Thomas Fifth Avenue, New York City), who will perform the following programme:
- Buxtehude - Praeludium in C BuxWV 137
- Böhm - Partita on ‘Ach, wie nichtig, ach, wie flüchtig’
- Eben - Hommage à Buxtehude
- JS Bach - Ach, wie nichtig, ach, wie flüchtig
- JS Bach - Prelude and Fugue in D major BWV 532
Hailed as “an outstanding player, who combines immaculate technique with remarkable musicianship” (Organists’ Review) Jeremiah’s recent performances have been described by concert organisers as “played with verve, astonishing accuracy and brilliant virtuosity” (Selby Abbey celebrity series) “virtuosic playing matched with effortless humour and charm” (St James International Organ Festival, Sydney) and creating “real warmth of feeling ..due to his easy, enthusiastic and cheerful nature” (Beaminster Festival).
Jeremiah was recently made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of organ performance and pedagogy.
Jeremiah's playing has been broadcast on television and radio in the UK, France and the Czech Republic, where in 2016 he won first prize in the Petr Eben International Organ Competition.
