Performed by soprano Lorena Paz Nieto and pianist Helen Glaisher, this captivating programme explores music shaped by diverse cultures and traditions spanning two centuries from across the Latin world, including Spain, Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.
Award-winning Spanish soprano Lorena Paz Nieto has performed leading operatic roles with companies including West Green House Opera, The Grange Festival and Theater Lübeck. A celebrated recitalist, she has appeared at the Royal Opera House and Oxford Lieder Festival, and recently released her debut solo CD, Cantando a dos poetas.
British-Hispanic pianist, Helen Glaisher-Hernández, has performed internationally, as well as live on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4, and across London’s major venues, including sell-out appearances at Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room and Queen Elizabeth Hall, Barbican’s Milton Court Concert Hall, St John’s Smith Square, St Martin-in-the-Fields and Fairfield Halls. Her playing has been praised by critics as ‘so beautiful’ (BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour); ‘a compelling mestizaje of classical refinement and Latin feel’.
