THE ROTTEN HILL GANG

The Rotten Hill Gang
Rotten Hill Gang were never built to fit neatly into a genre. Why start now?
Born out of West London, two turntables and an MC, the Gang have spent two decades smashing together hip-hop, punk, rock ’n’ roll, dub, soul, blues, funk and music hall — creating something that sounds unmistakably like Rotten Hill Gang.
At the heart of it is Gary McPherson AKA “Stonadge” — bassist, DJ, writer, storyteller and the Gang’s founder. Gary’s history reads like a musical road map of the last forty years. He played bass with Big Audio Dynamite II alongside Mick Jones, and co-wrote The Globe — the landmark album that sold more than a million copies worldwide.
He has toured with U2 during the Zooropa era and crossed paths and stages with Public Enemy, De La Soul, The Happy Mondays, The Farm, The Jungle Brothers and a formidable cast from the worlds of punk, hip-hop, reggae, soul and rock ’n’ roll.
But Rotten Hill Gang is where all those roads collide.
THE REAL ROTTEN HILL
The new album is the final statement.
The Real Rotten Hill is raw, melodic, political, funny, dark and gloriously difficult to categorise. It takes the attitude of punk, the beats of hip-hop, the bass weight of dub, the swagger of rock ’n’ roll and the cinematic edge of soul — then throws the lot against the wall.
