Varvara Tarasova
1901 Arts Club, SE1 8UE , [Venue Details]This is a rare opportunity to see the internationally renowned, multi-award-winning pianist, Varvara Tarasova, perform in the intimate environs of the 1901 Arts Club salon.
Tarasova has performed across Europe, the USA, Brazil and Russia, and given concerto performances with many orchestras, led by conductors including Vasily Petrenko, Konstantin Orbelian, and John Gibbons.
This recital presents a rich contrast between 19th-century European Romanticism and early 20th-century Russian Modernism.
The first half features lyrical intimacy and virtuosic flair through Schubert's sunlit A-major Sonata, his expressive B-flat major Impromptu, and Liszt’s sparkling transformations of Schubert and his own concert étude.
The second half shifts to Prokofiev's sharp, rhythmic edge, balancing the fleeting, enigmatic miniatures of Visions fugitives with the muscular energy and dramatic drive of his Piano Sonata No.2.
