Roots

Over The Moon

TwickFolk at The Cabbage Patch, TW1 3SZ , [Venue Details]

Over The Moon are an acoustic roots duo from Alberta, Canada, featuring Suzanne Levesque and Craig Bignell. Award-winning vocal and multi-instrumentalists, they get rave reviews and gain new friends and fans wherever they perform.

They last played at TwickFolk in 2022, and we are delighted to welcome them back as part of their 2024 tour of the UK.

Over The Moon’s music is a wild ride, from 1940’s sounding western swing and Appalachian old-time, to cowboy blues. Simple and sweet, all of their material has a common thread that speaks of the Canadian west.

Most of the duo’s songs are originals that tell stories of life lived in southern Alberta’s ranching country. In fact, the title song of their first CD, Moondancer, was given to them by the late Ian Tyson, a neighbour and one half of legendary Canadian folk duo Ian and Sylvia.

Over The Moon’s latest album, Chinook Waltz, reflects the beautiful two-part harmony style they are known for, as well as the wide array of acoustic instruments they play. It was nominated for Best Traditional Album in Canada’s Juno music awards in 2022, and in 2023 Over The Moon were nominated for “Ensemble Of The Year” in the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
