Rory Ingham’s Trombone Assembly
Pizza Express Live Holborn, WC1V 6LF , [Venue Details]Rory Ingham brings together the best jazz trombonists in the business to play a show of brand new music, featuring fresh works by prolific writer and world-famous trombonist Mark Nightingale.
Joining Rory Ingham (British Jazz Awards Rising Star) and Mark Nightingale (18 time winner of Best Trombonist in British Jazz Awards), will be renowned trombonist Trevor Mires (Sir Tom Jones), up- and-coming virtuoso Daniel Higham (Kansas Smitty’s), and legendary recording artist Andy Wood (Stevie Wonder).
Between them they’ve toured and recorded with Frank Sinatra, Sting, Jamiroquai, London Symphony Orchestra, Incognito, Randy Brecker, Steely Dan, Ray Brown, Quincy Jones, Lennie Neihaus, Kyle Monogue, Mike Gibbs, BBC Big Band, Strictly Come Dancing Orchestra and Chris Potter to name a few.
The five-trombone front line will be joined by a top-flight rhythm section of Ross Stanley on piano,
Sam Quintana on double and electric bass, and Ian Thomas on drums.
Expect big brassy riffs, beautifully buttery melodies, toe-tapping grooves, energetic swing and complete mastery of the trombone.
