Letters
The Cockpit Theatre, NW8 8EH , [Venue Details]Letters is a multi-disciplinary music theatre work-in-development in collaboration with Canadian composer Frank Horvat spanning the bridge between theatre, opera and the world of improvisation in both the body and the voice.
In looking to reconcile the traumatic events of her childhood, Stacie Dunlop has created a solo music theatre work that is a personal discovery of narrative, movement, sound and visual exploration, where she navigates through the events of her early life being raised by a mother with undiagnosed mental health challenges and drug addiction. Explorations on the themes of forgiveness and overcoming childhood trauma are expressed through body and voice improvisation, along with the reimagining of existing vocal works and the animating of newly created songs with piano self-accompaniment.
Letters’ development has been supported by the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.
