Music, Masques & Murder at the Jacobean Court

The Golden Hinde, SE1 9DE , [Venue Details]

The Lovekyn Consort will be performing an hour of songs and tunes from the Jacobean theatre, interspersed with readings by Lucy Hughes-Hallett from ‘The Scapegoat’ - her new biography of George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham and favourite of King James I of England.

Wednesday,
13 Nov 2024
@7.30pm

William and Stephen have worked together for many years, principally performing music from sixteenth-century England Spain and seventeenth-century England using period plucked and wind instruments. They assembled the music in collaboration with Rob Gildon, baritone, and Lucy Hughes-Hallett, writer, for a performance in East Suffolk in the Summer of 2024.

The Golden Hinde is the ideal venue for this programme as it is a resonant, intimate space very similar to those used when the music we perform was written.
