Electric Brixton, SW2 1RJ , [Venue Details]Skegss arrived on the Australian music scene around 2015 with an appealingly trashy mix of good-time surf and garage rock that soon netted them a record deal with the Warner-affiliated Ratbag label.
A succession of lively singles and EPs like 50 Push Ups for a Dollar and Holiday Food helped grow their national audience ahead of their more subdued 2018 full-length debut, My Own Mess, which hit number two on the ARIA charts. Their 2021 follow-up, Rehearsal, further refined and expanded their sound, cutting out the remaining vestiges of garage rock brattiness in favor of grown-up rock swagger.
