It evokes colorful images reminiscent of the perfumed exotic charm of Tales from the Arabian Nights through the use of quiet melancholy themes as well as wild and colorful whirlwind dances.

You will then hear the music of Stravinsky, l’Histoire du soldat, the story of a soldier. The piece blends narrative, music, and dance to depict a soldier’s tragic encounter with the devil, who tricks him into trading his violin (symbolizing his soul) for wealth.

To conclude the evening, you will travel to France for the music of Poulenc, l’Invitation au château. The piece accompanies Jean Anouilh’s play, a satire on aristocratic superficiality centered around a complex web of romantic entanglements at a high-society ball.

The Aevum Trio, based in London, is an exciting new ensemble formed by three talented musicians currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The trio has been recently focusing their work on composers from across Europe and twentieth-century music, engaging deeply into the rich repertoire for clarinet, violin, and piano.
