Bitmap and Music from the Sri Lankan Diaspora + Mark Ferrari

Cafè Oto, E8 3DL , [Venue Details]

An evening of boundary-pushing audiovisual performances, showcasing the work of three experimental Sri Lankan diaspora artists whose practices explore and deconstruct pixel art, archival mac software, and sound.

Monday,
31 Mar 2025
@7.30pm

Originally developed as part of a research project on sonic reclamation for marginalised communities, this event offers insight into how archival sonic and visual practices can serve as spaces for decolonial thought and creativity.

The event draws on collaborative discussions with the performers and legendary pixel artist Mark Ferrari (LucasArts’ Secret of Monkey Island), whose pioneering 8-bit pixel stamps, created for the software Flying Colors, have been reimagined by the artists.

The night will feature AV and DJ sets by Seth De Silva, Suren Seneviratne’s Missing Music project, and a new performance by Toulip Wonder, including tracks from her last record, Fortune Baby.
