Shakatak have enjoyed a level of success and career longevity rarely paralleled in contemporary music but then Shakatak is a particularly unusual group.

The show is based on 'Pavane', Paul Higgs’ critically acclaimed album. This collection of original compositions is an exquisite, atmospheric, melody-rich fusion of jazz and classical music. In ‘Pa-vane’ Paul combines the freedom of jazz with the richness of classical music.

Mary Pearce is the “Queen” of studio and backing vocals. You may not know Mary’s name but you will certainly have heard her fantastic voice.

Whilst still in her teens singer Vimala Rowe left England for the Far East where she quickly established herself as a solo artist, writing and recording a hit album before moving on to spend a year studying Hindustani Classical vocals in Nagpur India.

A weekly session on Sunday evenings, the jams will be hosted by some of London’s finest: drummer Jas Kayser, pianist Rick Simpson, guitarist Nick Costley-White, trumpeter Sean Gibbs and tenor saxophonists Helena Kay and Riley Stone-Lonergan, each one hosting one session on rotation.

Harry Diplock brings the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli to the Green Note basement. Joined monthly by some of the best gypsy jazz musicians from across Europe, come for an evening of improvisation and surprises!

Laurence Corns is a singer-guitarist playing swing jazz influenced by the likes of Fats Waller, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole and Bessie Smith.
