Quanta is a groundbreaking ensemble featuring three acclaimed improvisers—violinist Tobie Medland, cellist Shirley Smart, and pianist Ben Smith. Together, they blend classical, jazz, and Mediterranean influences to create a bold and innovative take on salon music. Known for their dynamic performances, Quanta promises an evening of vibrant, genre-defying music that spans the globe, offering a fresh perspective on chamber music.
Tobie Medland, a virtuoso violinist and founder of the Gypsy Jazz Festival of London, has collaborated with legends like Fapy Lafertin and Stochelo Rosenberg. Shirley Smart, one of the UK’s most creative cellists, draws on a decade of experience in Jerusalem, blending Middle Eastern traditions with jazz and classical styles. Ben Smith, a celebrated contemporary pianist, is renowned for his daring interpretations and virtuosic performances.
