GROW LIVE: ABDOULAYE SAMB // DARE BALOGUN // TRYB // SENEGALESE BLUES
Grow, E9 5LN , [Venue Details]Join us for a night of deep grooves as Abdoulaye Samb & Minnjiaraby blend Senegalese traditions with blues and jazz, joined by Dare Balogun and TrYb. A night of celebrating African rhythms and their global influence!
We’re excited to welcome back Abdoulaye Samb to Grow, Hackney! Originally from Senegal, Abdoulaye is a guitarist, singer, and composer whose music is deeply rooted in Fula and Mandinka traditions, fused with blues, jazz, and global influences. His band Minnjiaraby—meaning "the love of culture"—creates a unique soundscape of intricate guitar work, hypnotic rhythms, and soulful melodies. Having played across Africa and Europe, Abdoulaye brings an energy that is both uplifting and immersive, carrying the stories and spirit of Senegalese music into every performance.
Senegal gained independence from France on April 4, 1960, marking the birth of a sovereign nation rooted in rich cultural heritage and resilience. This day is a celebration of freedom, unity, and the enduring spirit of Senegalese people, reflected in their music, dance, and traditions. As we come together for this event, we also honour Senegal’s legacy—connecting its deep musical traditions with the global rhythms that continue to inspire and evolve. It’s more than just a party; it’s a tribute to history, culture, and the power of music to bring people together.
