Hekatones is an instrumental quintet rooted in the style of ska, rocksteady, dub and early reggae, whilst bringing in far-reaching influences such as jazz, psychedelia and folk from around the world. It's a new, original project from bassist George Berrills, and is a confluence of the many people and musical influences he has met along his journey. A founding member of dub group Resonators, Berrills has shared stages internationally with the likes of The Skatalites, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Jimmy Cliff, and Horace Andy.
With numerous acclaimed releases with Wah Wah 45s and airplay on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music and Radio 4, their music has been championed by the likes of David Rodigan, Huey Morgan and Craig Charles. Hekatones will be joined for the first time on a London stage by Resonators vocalists Faye Houston and Kassia Zermon, making this something of a reunion for some key members of the now defunct but hugely popular reggae outfit. This is going to be something very special.
