Joanne Robertson + Jordan Playfair + Samara & Riot + aloisius (DJ)
Cafè Oto, E8 3DL , [Venue Details]Joanne Robertson is a musician, painter and poet. Joanne collaborates regularly with her friends, most recently with Dean Blunt on ‘Black Metal 2’, and Sidsel Meineche Hansen on ‘Alien Baby’.
She moved to Glasgow in 2018, after having lived in London. Her painting and music both form from improvisatory moments of expression. ‘Blue Car’, is a collection of songs from her archive of unreleased solo recordings, similar to ‘Painting Stupid Girls’, these tracks attempt to record the moment, and where she was at emotionally that day, similar to diary entries. The dates she wrote these songs is unknown, they span roughly a ten year period.
Jordan Playfair is a guitarist, lyricist, and composer, who draws inspiration from folk, metal and blues. His current practice is defined by a commitment to exploring the textural possibilities of guitar within the structure of song.
Samara + Riot is a newly formed duo— an omen. Riot’s words bleed with Samara’s melodies and beats through soft intensity.
Samara Langham is a dancer and choreographer, and also makes music. She is interested in things essential and intangible.
aloisius is an improvisation-based artist, dj & curator, and the founder of the gesamtkunstwerk life is beautiful.
