Nok Cultural Ensemble

Hootananny Brixton, SW2 1DF , [Venue Details]

Nok Cultural Ensemble at Hootananny Brixton

Led by the endlessly inventive Edward Wakili-Hick (aka Eddie Hick), Nok Cultural Ensemble is a rhythmic force like no other.

Saturday,
12 Jul 2025
Doors open @7.00pm

You may know Wakili-Hick from his work with Sons of Kemet, Nubya Garcia, or from leading the legendary Steam Down sessions — but NOK is a different beast entirely.

Rooted in a four-piece drum circle and powered by African percussion, electronics, and deep diasporic grooves, NOK connects ancestral sounds with future rhythms — from nyabinghi to grime, baião to dub. Featuring collaborators like Mo Kolours, Wonky Logic, and members of Kokoroko, this is music that defies genre and moves bodies.

Don’t miss this percussive odyssey live at Hootananny.
