Beiggja
Pizza Express Jazz Club, W1D 3RW , [Venue Details]Beiggja is what happens when four deeply expressive jazz musicians meet in a room with no plan—just instruments, open ears, and total trust.
Pianist Kjetil Mulelid, saxophonist Kika Sprangers, bassist Mats Eilertsen, and drummer Per Oddvar Johansen create music that feels both intimate and expansive, rooted in Nordic stillness but always moving, always listening. Their interplay is instinctive and alive, where no take or moment ever repeats itself. “The interplay was fantastic—it felt completely natural and organic,” say Kika and Kjetil.
In June 2025, Beiggja debuted live with three sold-out concerts in the Netherlands, performing at the legendary Bimhuis, TivoliVredenburg, and Jazz in Duketown, where their sound was described as “a subdued polar wind of cool jazz in search of beauty and sound.” Their music is less about solos or structure and more about presence—quietly daring, deeply melodic, and endlessly exploratory.
This new quartet is the result of what happens when four imaginative jazz voices retreat into the Norwegian woods with nothing but instruments, some simple ideas, and open ears. A spontaneous, fearless musical collaboration was born in the quiet Norwegian winter wonderland and captured in the group’s debut album Morning, released June 13th on the Hubro label.
