The Tim Boniface Jazz Quartet
Jazz composer and performer Tim Boniface and his band perform their new album, ‘Psalter: Themes for Peace’, released on 27th June his year.
An evocative and gripping journey through the theme of peace in the book of Psalms, Psalter moves through hope, rest, protest, lament, joy and a call to action, and offers a fresh way of encountering familiar ancient texts through the composition and improvisation of this superb group. Psalter, which was premiered at St Alban’s Cathedral in 2024 and recorded in the studio in January 2025, follows Tim Boniface’s two acclaimed suites, The Infant and The Eight Words. The performance of Psalter will be followed by the quartet’s exploration of some classic jazz material.
Tim Boniface is jazz performer, composer and educator who works primarily on saxophones and piano. Tim leads of his own ensembles, collaborates with many renowned jazz musicians on the UK scene, is artistic director of Girton Jazz at Girton College, Cambridge, and works with the University of Cambridge Centre for Music Performance.
