The Pheasantry, SW3 4UT , [Venue Details]Nick Tomalin's 'Shades of Shearing' Band celebrate the musical legacy of iconic British-born jazz pianist George Shearing.
The band features the same line-up as his classic quintet, and for this show will be joined by singer Lily Dior to perform some tracks from the much-loved 'Beauty and the Beat' album he recorded with Peggy Lee and 'The Swinging's Mutual' album with Nancy Wilson.
Nick Tomalin has been working as a professional jazz pianist in London for nearly thirty years. His tasteful bebop-inspired piano style has made him a regular on the London scene and he's worked with some of the biggest names in UK jazz including Jim Mullen, Mark Lockheart, Alan Barnes, Stan Sulzman among many others. When at The Guildhall School of Music in 1994 Nick was lucky enough to feature in a televised masterclass with George Shearing, and in 2021 he put his 'Shades of Shearing' Band together to celebrate the music of this legendary British-born pianist.
